Our committee of volunteers is dedicated to improving the neonatal and transport facilities for critically ill newborn babies across the Yorkshire region. Our team has grown and changed over the years, and as well as our existing members we also thank Lois Hargreaves, Rupinder Sura-Collins, Emma Dooley, Shari MacLaurin nee Andrews, Anne-Marie Holdsworth, Natalie Boyle, Jackie Ward, Natalie Elderton & Steph Thomson for their much needed support.
Fiona Martin

Founder of The Friends of Alfie Martin, Fiona lives in Sicklinghall with husband Roger and daughter Betsy. She also has an older son Henry, a Chartered Surveyor. Fiona re-trained after having Betsy to become a pre-school teacher before opening a clothing and accessories business called Life & Soul Clothing. As chairperson for The Friends of Alfie Martin, Fiona finds her involvement with Alfie’s charity very rewarding and never ceases to be touched and amazed at how the work is continuously helping to save babies lives across the Yorkshire region on a regular basis. On a more personal level, it allows Fiona to say Alfie’s name in a positive way and keep his treasured memory alive.

Sarah currently lives in Yorkshire with her husband and two daughters. With a background in Retail Human resources, Sarah works with multiple charity organisations including LEAP and is a trustee of The Friends of Alfie Martin.

Michele lives in Yorkshire with partner Alan and son, Oliver. Working at ZPR as a PR Manager for over 10 years, Michele works with the likes of kitchen specialist Lakeland and loves dining out and entertaining at home as often as she can. She has been working with The Friends of Alfie Martin since day one and finds her work extremely rewarding and enjoys being able to give something back to the community.

Belinda lives in North Leeds with husband David and three boys. Aside from volunteering for various charity organisations, including The Friends of Alfie Martin, part time, Belinda enjoys keeping active at her local gym.

Philippa Goldstone

Based in Yorkshire, Philippa lives with husband Robert and three children who attend school in Leeds. Originally working as a Senior Buyer for Asda which saw her travel all around the world, she now owns and runs her own recruitment company, Equals One, which specialises in online advertising. When she’s not balancing work, family life, tennis and walking Miniature Schnauzer Charlie, Philippa volunteers part time for The Friends of Alfie Martin to help support their fundraising efforts.

Anne was invited to join The Friends of Alfie Martin in September 2010 and considers it a real honour to be part of such a very committed team. Helping to fundraise for essential neo natel equipment is very important to her.

Anne lives locally with husband Robert & family, enjoys walking, sailing & gardening.

Jacqui Land

Jacqui lives in Bishop Thornton near Harrogate with her husband, numerous pets and a son Henry. After meeting founder Fiona Martin by pure chance in 2007 she was asked to join the committee, and with a background in accountancy was asked to become Treasurer in 2010. The work that The Friends of Alfie Martin does at Leeds General Infirmary Neonatal Unit is something that has great personal significance for Jacqui, who devotes as much of her time as possible to the cause.

Harriet lives near Harrogate with her husband and daughter. A keen walker she enjoys spending time with her family and dog. After a career in the NHS she joined the committee in 2013.

Natalie lives locally with her husband, daughter and two dogs Cilla and Nellie. She is delighted to be able to help with the fundraising efforts of The Friends of Alfie Martin, and was honoured to be asked to be on the committee of such a worthwhile charity. She has over 20 years experience in technical sales & business development, and is the CEO of a Harrogate-based technology company.

Selina Collinson

Selina lives in Wetherby with her husband Adam and her two daughters. Whilst the girls were at school, she was heavily involved with their School’s Parents & Friends Association, having been Chair for the last 5 years. Now that they are both at University and with time on her hands, Selina joined the Friends of Alfie Martin Committee in 2014.

After relocating from Australia via Munich and Sussex, Cathy, and her husband and daughter, have lived in north Leeds since 2006. Cathy has a background in nursing and is involved in online education at The University of Manchester. She was delighted when she was invited to be involved in the committee, as she knows first-hand how high-tech equipment can change outcomes for the critically ill.
